Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has signed a long-term deal with the football club. His contract has been extended after he joined the team in January 2023. Earlier, Gordon was with Everton before joining the said club in the Premier League and since then has become an integral part of the team. His brilliant performances also earned him a call-up to the England squad that made it to the final of the European Championship last summer.
Interestingly, the contract has only been extended and the exact period has not been specified. Gordon was delighted to sign the contract extension deal with Newcastle United and reiterated that he is enjoying his time with the team and his teammates.
He eagerly wants to win the Premier League trophy and understands how desperate the club and the fans have been for so many years now.
“I just think the club's in a great place. Since the takeover, it's just been up and up.
“Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play. I love it here. I'm very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me -- and I'm here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy.
“Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine,” Gordon said in an official release.
Newcastle United head coach happy with Gordon’s commitment
Anthony Gordon has played 59 matches for Newcastle United ever since joining the club during the 2022-2023 season. He has so far scored 14 goals and assisted in 10. The team’s head coach Eddie Howe is immensely impressed with the improvement in Gordon’s game over the years. He is delighted that the 23-year-old footballer has committed his future to the club.
Howe also highlighted that Gordon is an equally good person and is confident that his dedication will help the team grow and be successful as well. Newcastle United are next scheduled to face Chelsea on October 27. Gordon, having scored only two goals this season so far, will be keen on delivering for the team with renewed energy in the upcoming clash and the season.
