All is not well with Brazil football star Antony Santos at Manchester United, especially after the sacking of manager Erik Ten Hag. The report from UtdDistrict claims that the winger is seeking a move away from the club due to a lack of game time. For the unversed, Antony has spent most of his time on the bench this season with competition from right-wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo. Moreover, the report also adds that the new Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim is willing to remove multiple players from the roster in January next year and Antony could be one of them.
The former Ajax star joined Manchester United for a reported fee of 95 million Euros in 2022. But things haven’t gone to plan for him despite playing a staggering 87 matches for the club. Antony has scored only 12 goals and assisted in five so far.
So far in the ongoing season, the 24-year-old hasn’t started in a single fixture in the Premier League for Manchester United. He has overall taken the field only for 27 minutes in two matches combined playing as a substitute in the tournament.
Antony has not found a place in the Red Devils’ playing XI in Europa League matches as well this season. He has played only 38 minutes in two matches coming off the bench in the middle of the clashes.
His only goal this season for Manchester United came in the EFL Cup when they defeated Barnsley 7-0 in the third-round clash on September 17. Interestingly, Antony is contracted with the club till the summer of 2027 but is unlikely to stay with the club till then.
Manchester United eyeing teenager Geovany Quenda
In another interesting development, Manchester United are eyeing winger Geovany Quenda, who is just 17 years old. According to a report in talkSPORT, apart from the Red Devils, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are also thinking of securing the youngster’s services.
However, if United enter the race, they are likely to hold all the aces as their current manager Ruben Amorim was the one to hand him his senior debut at Sporting. Quenda has made 18 appearances in senior teams across competitions so far scoring two goals and as many assists.
