Ahead of the crucial Round of 16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Arne Slot revealed who he considers the "best team in Europe." He also spoke about his preferred opposition for the Round of 16, admitting he would rather face Benfica than PSG. In his media comments, Arne Slot shared that he would have preferred to play against Benfica instead of the French league leaders. However, he acknowledged that the current fixture is still a fantastic challenge, with Parc des Princes being one of the greatest stadiums to play in. He said:

We would have preferred to play against Benfica instead of PSG

But this is also a great fixture to play and it's a great stadium to play. If you are playing for Liverpool you want to play big games.

We are facing a very strong opponent - they are as well

While Liverpool continues to receive widespread applause and praise from pundits around the world for their ruthless performances in England and their potential to win the Premier League, Arne Slot remains humbled by the compliments his team is receiving about being the best in Europe. He believes that both the club and the players are still far from that level.

Talking to the media, Slot also stated that he believes Real Madrid are currently the best team in Europe. He pointed out that they are the reigning title defenders and emphasized that for Liverpool to truly be in the conversation as the best team in Europe, they would need to win the Champions League. He said,

It's a nice compliment to get but the best team in Europe has to win the Champions League and we are far away from that,

I think the best team in Europe is still Real Madrid because they won this competition last season. For us, we have to win it before you can say this
