Arne Slot welcomes PSG in UEFA Champions League Round of 16, says "we will look forward to the challenge"
The ongoing Champions League campaign Round of 16 draws has happened and some of the draws are truly living up to the hype of the current Swiss model. Amongst the top draws of the knockout stages, Liverpool against Paris St Germain over the two legs is a delight to watch for the fans and the neutrals. Amidst the ongoing Premier League challenge, Arne Slot has welcomed the draw against the French giants and stated that “we will look forward to the challenge”.
Appreciating the opposition, the former Feyenoord gaffer mentioned that PSG have got results against the likes of Stuttgart, Manchester City, Girona and RB Salzburg while also knocking Brest 10-0 in the playoffs. Slot also opined that the Round of 16 will always have a quality opponent. He said:
At this stage of the competition, the quality of opponent is only going to be of a very high standard, and in PSG we have drawn a team and a club with real European pedigree. They qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League in style earlier this week with a big win against Brest and they had some really good results in the league phase, defeating Stuttgart, Manchester City, Girona and Salzburg
On the other hand, Arne Slot compared their situation with PSG where both sides are on top of their leagues with a significant unbeaten run. He stated that they will be looking forward to this change. He said:
As is the case with ourselves, PSG are top of their domestic league and are enjoying a long unbeaten run. This tells us all that we need to know about the challenge that we will face but it is also a challenge that we will look forward to, knowing that we also fully deserve to be in the last 16
