Arsenal fans lash out at Martin Odegaard following poor show vs Everton
Arsenal fans aren't pleased at all with superstar Martin Odegaard after his poor show in the 0-0 draw against Everton. With the race at the top heating up with every passing game, Arsenal's inability to score a single goal, despite dominating the game right through, has left the fans frustrated. Odegaard was at the receiving end of all the criticism as he couldn't create many chances during his 62-minite stay on the field. Moreover, he also missed a huge chance on the 29th minute that would've put Arsenal 1-0 ahead in the clash.
Add to it his passing accuracy of only 88% on the day where he lost the possession a staggering 13 times. He also had only 57 touches on the ball, making it one of the worst outings of the season for Odegaard. In the aftermath of a 0-0 stalemate, fans on X were not happy with Martin Odegaard and came down hard at the 25-year-old for his poor performance.
“Odegaard is annoying to watch. I still think he’s not the right player profile to play further up the pitch in midfield. If you’re not starting Partey then you’d need a Kiwor to supply those long range passes,” a fan wrote.
“Martinelli, Odegaard and Havertz all three were trash,” another fan wrote on X making it clear that only Martin was not at fault.
“Ødegaard needs to advance more into the midfield and help the Team create chances and stop leaning on Saka The guy’s simply overrated,” one of the fans said pointing out that Odegaard failed to create any chances while playing as a forward.
How has Odegaard performed this season for Arsenal?
It has been a tough season for Martin Odegaard as he has found the net only once in 9 outings for Arsenal in the Premier League. Overall, he has been with the club since 2020-22 season and has made 131 appearances so far, scoring 32 goals. Arsenal, after their 0-0 draw against Everton, are now at third place after 16 matches. They have won eight matches, drawn six, and lost two this season so far with 30 points to show for their efforts.
To go up top, they will need some consistency as there is a six-point gap between them and the league leaders-Liverpool. Arsenal will next face Crystal Palace in the league on December 21 at 11 PM IST and all eyes will be on Odegaard after his recent poor show.
