According to recent reports, Barcelona are all set to break the bank to raid Newcastle United. The Catalans have registered their interest in signing Alexander Isak and now, they set their eyes on the Toons’ midfielder. One of the top outlets of Spain, Mundo Deportivo, mentioned that Barcelona are looking to secure the services of Sandro Tonali alongside Isak in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club is set to make an initial bid of €60 million to sign the former AC Milan midfielder. The report read:

Barcelona is reportedly preparing to make a bid of approximately €60 million for Sandro Tonali. He has been rumored to be associated with the Blaugrana since 2020.

Barcelona are looking to fill the role that would be left void by the departure of Robert Lewandowski over the years and they have found their replacement in the form of Alexander Isak. The Swedish international has been phenomenal in the ongoing season with 19 goals and five assists in the 25 Premier League appearances. He also helped his side to win their first-ever trophy at Wembley in 70 years with a second goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup finals. These accolades have made his value significantly higher with Magpies valuing him at £150 million.

With Barcelona might not be able to get the player to Camp Nou, they have turned their attention towards the Italian midfielder who has been dominant in the midfield for Newcastle United. He has been the cog in Eddie Howe’s wheel while scouts continue to sing laurels about the players. It remains interesting to see if the Spanish outfit can sign the player with his contract running till 2028.

What is the other departure that can potentially happen at Newcastle United?

Newcastle United might also be reluctant to sell Sandro Tonali as they foresee the departure of Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window as he has fallen out of favor at St James Park. Once an upcoming talent now has been reduced to warming the benches for the Toons. With only twelve months left on his contract, Sean Longstaff’s transfer is gaining momentum with his long-time admirers Manchester United coasting the interest to secure the services.
