Barcelona’s midfielder, Gavi is struggling to get his campaign running year on year after the player has continued to suffer injuries. While he made the return in recent times, the Spaniard again suffered an injury in the fixture against Alaves in the La Liga. Gavi was forced off as the player clashed with the Alaves star Tomas Concheny during the game. With this, the player is expected to be ruled out for the near future.
In the early minutes of the game, Concheny and Gavi came together in the middle of the park. After starting the game on a high tempo, Gavi had even earned a yellow card in the initial seven minutes. Post that, he was late to an aerial duel, causing injuries to both players. Alaves player, Tomas Concheny, was on the worst receiving end as he had to be stretchered off with a neck brace around. On the other hand, Gavi was treated on the pitch by the medical staff and he left the pitch on his own accord.
Post assessment, Barcelona released an official statement over the player’s injury. According to the medical reports, the player did not face any serious concussion as the player has been cleared by the hospital. However, the club will continue to monitor the situation of the player. They stated:
During Sunday's match against Alavés, first-team player Gavi sustained a head injury but remained conscious. His medical tests came back normal, and he has been cleared to recover at home. He will continue to be monitored.
