Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s contract with the club expires at the end of the 2024-24 season. Under Guardiola at the helm, Manchester City has bagged four Premier League titles, however, Guardiola isn’t too keen to continue his time at the Etihad Stadium. The 53-year-old currently awaits a decision on the case against the club for 115 charges of alleged financial breaches. However, for the City’s manager, the outcome of the seismic case doesn’t matter.

Manchester City is on the lookout for options for the next season onwards. Amidst that, Portuguese attacker Bruno Fernandes has tipped Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim as the favourite to replace Guardiola at the Etihad. Fernandes credited Amorim’s brilliance in helping Sporting CP become a force to be reckoned with.

He hailed the team’s consistent performances and top-notch signings. Fernandes noted that the club, who didn’t win a single championship for 20 years, won back-to-back titles under Amorim.

"Since Amorim arrived at Sporting, they have been one of the teams to play the best football," Fernandes said.

"They have been consistent, the signings have been right and they are in a very good moment. It's a very well-prepared team. In relation to Amorim, he shows that he is prepared at this moment. Coaching Sporting and winning championships is not easy, Sporting went 20 years without winning championships and Amorim arrived and has already won two, this shows that the work has been done well.” he added.

"Those rumours are not true"- Pep Guardiola on England job link

Earlier, there were reports of Amorim linking up with clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool. However, Arne Alot eventually took over from Jurgen Klopp at the Reds. Meanwhile, Amorim’s current contract runs until June 2026. If he finds his way to Etihad then City will have to pay a compensation fee to break his contract.

Pep Guardiola is likely to complete eight years of loyal service with Manchester City. During his tenure, he has managed to take hold of every title, including the historic treble in 2022-23. Recently, he was asked about the rumours of him linking up with the England national team. However, the 53-year-old denied any such reports and stated that there are a lot of options at his disposal, which leaves everyone guessing.
