Bukayo Saka's three-word message after defeat against Newcastle

Arsenal’s stand-in captain Bukyao Saka has come up with a strong three-word message for his teammates and fans after losing their recent match to Newcastle in the ongoing Premier League season. He called for unity between his teammates as Arsenal have now lost twice in two weeks in the tournament.

Mikel Arteta’s men didn’t have the best of the outings against Newcastle on Saturday (November 2) as they went down 0-1 having conceded an early goal. Alexander Isak found the net in the 12th minute and it was enough for Newcastle to claim all three points from the clash.

This loss has led to the Gunners being at the fifth position on the points table with 18 points from 10 games and are seven points behind the table-toppers Liverpool. Arsenal’s other defeat in the ongoing season came against Bournemouth two weeks ago on October 19. They succumbed to a 2-0 loss at the Vitality Stadium.

After the loss, Bukayo Saka, the team’s captain in the absence of Marin Odegard, realized the setbacks calling for unity in the team. He posted a story on his Instagram sharing the post-match graphic and wrote, “We stick together!”

Tony Cascarino wishes Saka to be stripped of captaincy

Amidst the disappointing results over the last couple of weeks, Bukayo Saka has led from the front for the team with significant contributions. He has scored three goals so far and assisted in seven in nine outings this season. But former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino believes Saka should be stripped of captaincy.

According to him, the leadership role is proving to be a distraction for Saka and it isn’t allowing him to play his best football. Having said that, captaincy is not new for him. He first wore the captain’s armband in October 2023 and led Arsenal to a 5-0 win over Sheffield Shield United in the Premier League.

Tony also suggested Declan Rice or Thomas Partey to be handed over the captain’s armband of Arsenal.

“Bukayo Saka's a fantastic player, and I speak highly of him all the time, because I love his desire, his hunger, his goal, his intelligence as a player, his assists. I just don't want him to be captain because I think he needs to be on his game and think about his game only,” Tony said while talking to takSPORT.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will next be in action on Wednesday (November 6) as they face Inter Milan in the Champions League.
