Barcelona advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Benfica on Tuesday, securing a 4-1 aggregate win. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha were the standout performers, lighting up the match with their exceptional displays. Raphinha opened the scoring early, and despite a quick equalizer from Nicolas Otamendi, Barcelona regained control of the game. Yamal then produced a stunning strike to give the Catalans a 2-1 lead, and Raphinha added another goal to seal the win, scoring either side of the brilliant moment from Yamal. Barcelona dominated the first half, building on their 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Lisbon.

With both teams playing an attacking brand of football, Barcelona showcased their flair and technical ability, with the crowd at the Olympic Stadium treated to some truly mesmerizing moments. Despite the setback of Otamendi’s equalizer, Barcelona quickly regained their rhythm, taking control of the match and never allowing Benfica to get back into it. The result confirmed Barcelona’s spot in the quarter-finals, progressing comfortably from the tie after a display of clinical finishing and fluid attacking play. The victory highlighted the quality of their offensive players, particularly Yamal and Raphinha, as the Catalans march on in Europe’s premier club competition.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona side is set to face either Borussia Dortmund or Lille in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Catalans are eager to lift the prestigious trophy for the first time since 2015, a period that saw the iconic trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez dominate European football. Barcelona’s journey back to the top of Europe has been marked by an impressive team performance, and they will be looking to continue their strong run in the tournament. With the aim of winning the Champions League for the first time in nearly a decade, Barcelona’s upcoming quarter-final clash will be crucial. Whether it’s Borussia Dortmund or Lille, they will have a tough challenge ahead as they bid to reclaim their place among Europe’s elite clubs, aiming to end a long wait since their last continental triumph.

"We are candidates to win everything," Raphinha said in a recent interview.

"It's good that the players think about that (winning everything), it shows they have confidence, they believe in what they are doing, but my job is to stay calm," said Hansi Flick in a recent conversation.

Barcelona, with their five Champions League titles, made a strong start to the match, taking the lead after just 11 minutes. Spain international Lamine Yamal displayed brilliant skill, bursting into the box, slicing past Florentino, and mishitting the ball across to Raphinha, who made no mistake with a simple finish. However, Benfica responded swiftly, leveling the score within two minutes. Nicolas Otamendi escaped the attentions of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo to head home from a well-delivered corner, leaving Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny with little chance. Szczesny, who had been exceptional in the first leg, keeping Barcelona in the game despite being down to 10 men following Pau Cubarsi’s red card, could perhaps have done more to prevent Otamendi’s equalizer.

Despite this setback, Barcelona quickly regained their composure, with their wingers, Yamal and Raphinha, continuing to shine. The Catalan side's attacking play was scintillating, and they soon reclaimed their lead, overwhelming Benfica with their pace and creativity. Barcelona's dominance was evident as they continued to press forward, putting on an attacking masterclass in a comfortable 3-1 victory, securing their place in the quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate score.
