Chelsea are making swift moves in the ongoing campaign after falling behind in their title chase. The club struggled due to key players missing from injury and others facing a slump in form. To address these issues quickly, Chelsea have taken a proactive approach and have already secured the services of Giovany Quenda, who was previously headed to Manchester United. In a surprising turn of events, Chelsea have also swooped in for a second signing from Sporting, landing aDario Essugo.

The reports read:

Chelsea have reportedly completed a deal to sign Sporting CP midfielder Dario Essugo on the same day that they snapped up his compatriot Geovany Quenda from under Manchester United’s nose

The 20-year-old midfielder, Dario Essugo, has been on Chelsea’s radar for quite some time, and the club came close to securing his signature in the past. However, they were unable to bring him on board at that moment. Now, it appears that Chelsea has successfully signed him in a deal worth €25 million. Essugo is currently playing for Las Palmas in La Liga. While Giovany Quenda will join the club in 2026, Essugo is expected to make the move to the West London outfit in the summer of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea to not sign Jadon Sancho? How will the transfer pan out?

According to recent reports, Chelsea are no longer looking to secure the services of on-loan Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho following his recent performances. The London outfit has an obligatory clause to sign the player in a deal worth £25 million, but with Sancho having played 22 games for the Blues, he has only managed two goals and four assists. On multiple occasions, Chelsea's manager has been frustrated by the player's lack of effort on the field, leading the club to reconsider their stance on making the move permanent.

The journalist, David Ornsetin mentioned on his exclusive that Chelsea can pay a penalty and not sign the player. Ornstein posted:

As has been reported elsewhere - Chelsea can decide against going through with the obligation by paying a fee. So, technically, he could return to United but that was not the aim of any party when they embarked upon this deal,
