Cole Palmer makes PL history after scoring 2 penalties for Chelsea

Chelsea player Cole Palmer has created history in the Premier League breaking the all-time record by scoring two penalties in the team’s win over Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea defeated Tottenham 4-2 on Sunday (December 8) with the England international scoring two goals off penalty kicks. With this, Palmer has scored the most consecutive penalties without missing in the Premier League.

Palmer joined Chelsea in the 2023-24 season and has been in sublime form since then having already scored 11 goals in this edition. Coming back to his record, Palmer has now scored 12 consecutive penalties without missing. He broke Manchester City legend Yaya Toure’s record in this aspect who netted 11 consecutive penalties successfully without missing.

With these two goals, the 22-year-old has also become the most productive player for the Blues in a calendar year. He made 39 goal contributions in 2024 breaking Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s record created in 2001.

Cole Palmer’s performance for Chelsea so far?

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea after spending three seasons with Manchester City. His association with Chelsea was an immediate success as the winger scored 22 goals in his maiden season with the club in 33 matches to go with 11 assists. Even in this season, he has assisted in six goals apart from netting 11 in 15 appearances in the Premier League. 

He will be keen on continuing to perform well for Chelsea for the rest of the season as the race to be at the top of the table becomes intense. Chelsea have jumped to second place with their 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

They have 31 points after 15 matches with nine wins, four draws, a`nd two losses so far and are only four points behind the league leaders Liverpool who have an extra game in hand. Chelsea are in excellent form this season having not lost a single game in their last eight outings - winning six and drawing two. 

The Blues will next face Astana in the Europa Conference League on December 12 at 9 PM IST. In the Premier League, they will play their next clash against the ninth-placed Brentford on December 16 (Monday) at 12:30 AM IST.
