Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on his potential return to Sporting CP
One of the global footballing icons, Cristiano Ronaldo, recently, celebrated his 40th birthday and is not looking anywhere closer to stopping his football career. Given how driven Cristiano Ronaldo is, he is not expected to stop before achieving the iconic 1000-goal mark in the history of football. He recently became the first-ever player to reach a 700 official win mark but will look to complete the 1000 goals.
While the player continues his career in Saudi Arabia, with Al Nassr, the Portuguese superstar opened upon his potential return to Sporting CP, his beyond club. He joined the club as a teenager in 1997 and went on to break through to the senior side in 2002. The player went on to become one of the best in the world under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson after he joined Manchester United in 2003.
While he joined Real Madrid and Juventus before returning to Manchester United for his second stint, the player has no motives to go back to Sporting CP like how Neymar joined Santos after mutual contract termination with the Middle Eastern outfit. Ronaldo mentioned that there is a time and limit for everything and has not thought about joining the Portuguese outfit yet.
No, never, I think it makes no sense. My career started in Portugal and it's not because I don't like Portuguese football or don't think it has quality. But I think everything has a time and a limit, and I never thought about that honestly
Cristiano Ronaldo has already raked in 23 goals and four assists for his side with little less than half of the campaign left. He will look forward to closing down the gap between the top two in the Saudi Pro League when they face Al Feiha on Friday.
How long will Cristiano Ronaldo continue to play for Al-Nassr?
While the official contract of the player ends at the end of next season, the reports suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to an extension of a year post the contract expiry. It is also understood that Ronaldo is given 5% of the club as a mark of respect.
