Portugal continued its impressive run in the UEFA Nations League as they secured their third consecutive win on Saturday. The Cristiano Ronaldo-led outfit produced a stellar effort to beat Poland by a 3-1 margin. Bernando Silva gave his team an early lead as he netted one from Bruno Fernandes’ headed assist in the 26th minute. Eleven minutes later, skipper Cristiano Ronaldo made it 2-1 as he struck his 133th goal for his national side. A Rafael Leao’s shot hit the post and it was Ronaldo, who was the quickest to make a counter-attack and put it in the rebound. Before the half-time, Portugal were 2-0 ahead and dominating the proceedings.
Piotr Zielinski helped Poland secure their first goal in the 78th minute with one hell of a strike. However, an own goal from the home defender Jan Bednarek sealed the game in Portugal’s favour.
Meanwhile, during the game, a Cristiano Ronaldo fan invaded the pitch to take a selfie with the Portugal superstar. Before the security officials could take action, Ronaldo insisted that the fan click a picture with him.
Meanwhile, Portugal are dominating the points table with three wins in as many matches. They are at the top in League A Group One with nine points, followed by Croatia, who are three points behind.
At third is Poland, who have three points, while Scotland are yet to open their account in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez expressed his pleasure over his team’s third consecutive win in the tournament. Martinez was pleased to see new players coming up the ranks and showcasing their mettle and noted that Portugal seemed a better team after the 'European Championship'.
“We have more players (now), the competitiveness for what we are working on is growing, we are an even better prepared team after the European Championship. Our focus and total objective is the World Cup. We're seeing new debuts, new players, who are coming into the group in a natural way," Roberto Martinez said after the match.
Portugal are slated to play next against Scotland on 16th October, Wednesday.
