Fans impressed with Ferran Torres remarkable show in win over Dortmund

Barcelona fans are impressed with Ferran Torres after his impressive show against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday (December 11). Torrest found the net twice in the Catalans’ victory and his second goal turned out to be the clincher for Barcelona. After a goalless first half, Raphinha opened the account for Barcelona in the 52nd minute but Dortmund equalised with Serhou Guirassy striking from the penalty spot.

In the 71st minute, Torres came on the field as the substitute for Robert Lewandowski and made an immediate impact scoring a goal in the 75th minute. But again, Guirassy scored an equaliser three minutes later to make it 2-2. Just when everyone thought the thrilling clash would end in a tame draw, Torres found the nets yet again, for the second time in 15 minutes since his arrival, courtesy of an assist from Lamine Yamal.

Soon after their win, fans took to X to laud Ferran Torres for his impressive show after coming on in the back end of the game. One of the fans compared him to David Villa while the other felt he is better than French superstar Kylian Mbappe. 

“David Villa never left, he came back as Ferran,” a tweet from a Barcelona fan read. “Ferran made himself look like David Villa with those fantastic runs,” another fan agreed. “Ferran Torres might actually be better than Kylian Mbappe,” one more Catalan wrote on X.

How has Ferran Torres performed for Barcelona so far?

Ferran Torres joined the LaLiga giants Barcelona in the 2021-22 season and has been a regular feature in their playing XI. In the last four years, he made 91 appearances for the Catalans scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists in the tournament. In the UEFA Champions League, he has played 16 matches for the team and scored eight goals.

In fact, his goals against Dortmund in the recent Champions League was his first contribution in three matches this season for Barcelona. Having found the nets twice in the previous outing, Torres will be hoping to continue his great form in the remainder of the season.
