What will be the dream of a footballer representing the national team? To have the highest number of caps and the highest number of goals. Ferran Torres, Barcelona forward, wants to also achieve the same record by the time he retires. The forward wants to be the highest goalscorer for Spain's national team which would be a dream come true.

Talking to the media, Ferran Torres mentioned that he feels playing for the national team itself is a dream. For him, playing for one of the biggest sides in world football, Spain, is the best part of his life. The Catalan forward also believes that he is capable of being the top scorer for the country. He said:

Yes, I've always said that for me the national team is the greatest thing, because representing your country in front of all of Spain is huge. And I've always said that for me it would be a dream to be among the national team's top scorers, and I see myself capable of achieving it. I hope so, because it would be a dream for me

Currently, the record is held by David Villa, with 59 goals from 98 appearances across all competitions. Ferran Torres has 21 goals from 48 appearances and the player has age on his side. Torres is still 25 and has time left to eclipse the record. Sergio Ramos is tenth on the list of players who has the highest number of goals with 23 goals.

Yes, I have time. It's true that Villa... wow, that's a big deal, but well, I hope so, why not? You have to dream big, that way you're sure to get closer

Ferran Torres will be in action in the two-legged UEFA Nations League quarterfinals against Netherlands on March 20 and March 23. He will look to bag goals and enter the list of top ten goalscorers for the country.

What is in store for Ferran Torres and Barcelona?
