Former Manchester City captain Kyle Walker set to leave the club to ply his trade for AC Milan

According to recent media reports, Manchester City full-back, Kyle Walker has left the club on loan to play his trade with AC Milan for the remainder of the season. The 34-year-old will be on loan for six months and the deal also includes the option to buy. The English full back had completed the medical with the Italian outfit on Thursday. 

The departure news comes after Manchester City confirmed the signing of the new Egyptian superstar, Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £59 million. Kyle Walker will be the fourth English international in the current AC Milan setup as he joins the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Tammy Abraham. The player will wear the No 32 at San Siro and will be ready to face Parma in the Serie A campaign. 

Ever since joining Manchester City in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur, Walker has celebrated 17 titles with the blue half of Manchester. City paid £50 million to secure the services of the full back who went on to captain city. Over 319 appearances for the club, Kyle Walker had been instrumental in City’s six Premier League titles and a treble winning 2022-23 season. 

What did Kyle Walker have to say? 

Kyle Walker penned an emotional note with a lengthy paragraph thanking all the people whom he met at Manchester City. From the coaching staff to kit men, he thanked all. He also included backroom staff who made it the success possible at Etihad. He wrote:

A huge thank you to so many people, the coaching staff, the kit men and all the backroom staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes," 

"You make every day enjoyable and provide the platform for us to perform at our best.

He also thanked his gaffer, Pep Guardiola, and was grateful for the opportunities. Walker mentioned that he wants to move out of the club post the West Ham United game. He mentioned:

“To Pep Guardiola, thank you for believing in me and working so hard to bring me here in 2017. Together, we've celebrated 17 trophies, and your guidance has helped shape me into the player I am today. I'll be forever grateful”
