Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is confident of Frenkie de Jong rediscovering his form soon. He reckons that the Dutchman will soon regain his confidence and get back to playing his best for the club. For the unversed, Jong was out of action from April to October due to injury. This spell also saw him miss the UEFA Euro 2024 for the Netherlands. He is back on the field now but is yet to be on the field for the entire 90 minutes of play. He has played in nine matches so far this season but has started only in two matches. Overall, Frenkie has played for just 262 minutes so far.

Barcelona will next face Las Palmas at home on November 30 and ahead of the clash, manager Hansi Flick opened up on De Jong’s form.

“Frenkie has been hit hard with his injury and needs to regain his confidence, we are being careful with him and deciding little by little when to put him in. He will get back to his level, I am sure of it,” he said (via Barca Times).

As far as his performance for La Blaugrana is concerned, Frenkie de Jong has netted 17 goals and assisted in 21 of them since joining the club in 2019 after coming from Ajax. However, his contract is expiring in 2026, and has already been linked with a move away from Barcelona.

Frenkie de Jong was jeered by Barcelona fans

Even as Hansi Flick is backing Frenkie de Jong to get back to his best form soon, the fans are not happy with him. Barcelona defeated Stade Brestois 3-0 at home in their previous clash at the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday (November 26).

Frenkie came on the field as a substitute in the 88th minute in the clash to replace Pedri but he was jeered by the home fans. However, Flick played down the incident and feels the fans will be back to supporting their player again when they see Jong getting back to his form.At the same time, it has been understood that Frenkie de Jong could be handed a rare start in the clash against Las Palmas.
