Barcelona continue to dominate the proceedings in the Spanish top flight but the league is not over yet. With the final third of the campaign left, Barcelona were up against fellow title challengers Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano. Ahead of the game, Hansi Flick engaged in the press conference where the manager went on to speak about Julian Alvarez’s penalty goal that was ruled out in the Champions League.

When the question was asked to the former German coach, Hansi Flick responded by saying that it was very unfortunate for a player of caliber like Alvarez. He offered condolences to the player but mentioned that he did not have any additional thing to say.

What do you want me to say?

It was very unfortunate. I felt sorry for him. He's one of the best players, a fantastic footballer, and a great goalscorer. I feel sorry for him, I repeat... but I have nothing more to say.

How did Diego Simeone react to the question about the penalty ahead of the Barcelona fixture?

Talking to the media after the midweek debacle against their city rivals Real Madrid, Diego Simeone stated that his focus would have been on the game against Barcelona but he was unable to control his feelings after the goal was ruled out. However, he also mentioned that they will continue working and competing for the title. He said:

Normally I would answer 'Barcelona,' but this time the situation warrants expressing my feelings of anger,"

However, it's up to me to keep working so the team can continue competing. The feeling we all have is one of anger and injustice

How did the game end at Wanda Metropolitano?

With both teams aiming for the title in La Liga, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid locked their horns in a bid to settle the debate and stop Barcelona’s progress in the league. However, Barcelona were too hot to handle for the home side as the Catalans registered a second-half comeback to win it 2-4. Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torress scored in the injury time of the game to break the hearts of Rojiblancos.
