Hansi Flick takes a dig at Real Madrid over match scheduling

Two weeks ago, when Real Madrid played a Champions League knockout game and a La Liga fixture within 72 hours, the manager of Los Blancos, Carlo Ancelotti, threatened not to play again as it takes a toll on the players, and the top players would not be available. However, speaking about the same issue, Hansi Flick took a dig at fellow title contenders, saying, “We have to accept it.”

In the ongoing season, after the international break, Barcelona will play a game within 72 hours of the completion of their last fixture. From the finish of the previous game of the international break to Barcelona's league fixture, it will be 48 hours, meaning they will miss the services of their top contributor of the campaign, Raphinha, as the player’s game will not end before Wednesday morning. Talking to the media, he mentioned that it is the governing body’s decision to play or not, and La Liga just has to give a nod.

We have to accept it

That's how they decided. We can't change it. It's UEFA or FIFA's job to decide whether players can rest. Ultimately, that's how it is. La Liga has given the go-ahead

When asked if he would blurt out like the rival manager Carlo Ancelotti, Hansi Flick mentioned that he is proud of his side and does not want to be compared with the rivals. He said:

We are Barca, not Real Madrid

And I'm very proud of being Barca.

What is next for Barcelona after the international break?

After the international break, Barcelona will resume their title challenge in La Liga and will face Valladolid in the Spanish top-flight fixture. They sit comfortably on top of the table with a three-point lead but any slip-up will allow the chasing pack to equalize. They will also look to advance in the Champions League where they will play Borussia Dortmund on 9th April at Camp Nou and 15th of April at Signal Iduna Park to secure their berth in the Champions League semi-finals.

Thursday fixture results: Barcelona had registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Osasuna at Camp Nou.
