Kane's performance did not stop there. With 14 minutes remaining, he sealed the win for England with a second goal at the UEFA Nations League. This time, Kane displayed his sharpness and awareness with a clever first-time finish after receiving a well-placed square pass from Noni Madueke, who was making his international debut. The goal not only confirmed the victory but also highlighted Kane's role as a crucial figure in the team.
Kane's double strike not only secured the three points for England but also underscored his importance as a key player for the national team. His 100th cap was marked by an outstanding individual performance, making it a night to remember both for him and the fans. Harry Kane made a remarkable debut for England in March 2015, making an immediate impact by scoring just 79 seconds after coming on as a substitute. Since then, Kane has established himself as one of England's most prolific strikers, showcasing his talent and consistency on the international stage.
As a player for Bayern Munich, Kane has added to his impressive resume by participating in more major finals than any other English player, with a total of 28 appearances in such high-stakes matches. Despite his extensive experience and numerous finals appearances, Kane has yet to secure a major international trophy. His career has been marked by near-misses, including being part of the England squad that suffered back-to-back defeats in the European Championship finals.
Most notably, Kane was a key player in the England team that fell to Spain in the 2024 Euros final, losing 2-1. These setbacks, while highlighting his ability to reach the final stages of tournaments, have also underscored the challenge of achieving international success. Kane’s ongoing quest for a major trophy continues to define his international career, as he remains one of England’s most formidable and determined players in their pursuit of glory.
"As a striker of course on my 100th cap I wanted to score a goal and make the night as memorable as possible and to win the game as well," said Kane.
"So to score a couple of good goals, a couple of nice finishes and help the team win 2-0 was pretty much perfect so a proud night for me and the family and now we can enjoy it. I had enough shots to get a hat trick but [interim boss] Lee [Carsley] spoke about managing some minutes with a lot of games coming up. I've always spoken about when things are not going your way, trying to use that to bring an energy, a motivation and a hunger not just to prove other people but to prove to yourself that you can keep maintaining this level and keep pushing. That's what I talk about. There will be a time -- I'm not sure when -- when the level will drop and you won't quite feel the same but while I feel like I do, I want to keep pushing the boundaries. I think I showed that out there tonight and come October, I'll be ready to go again," he added.
