England veteran Harry Kane has cleared that the FIFA World Cup 2026 won’t be his last major tournament at the international level. He scored a goal in the Three Lions’ dominating 5-0 win over Republic of Ireland on Sunday (November 17) in the United Nations League. This win took them to the top of the table in their group and sealed an automatic promotion to the top tier of the Nations League.

Interestingly, Kane was benched by interim coach Lee Carsley for the Greece clash which England won 3-0 despite some first-choice players not being available. Harry Kane was criticized a lot for his poor show in the Euro 2024 despite winning the joint Golden Boot award with three goals in England’s run to the final. At the age of 31, Harry Kane is keen on not stepping away from the sport even after crossing 33 in 2026 after the World Cup.

For the unversed, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played in the United States, Mexico, and Canada and many reckon it to be his final shot at glory. But Harry Kane is hoping that he gets to feature in Euro 2028 which will be hosted by England.

“I don't think so (if World Cup 2026 will be his last). I think there's a perception when you get to your 30s that you're coming to an end, but for me, I'm performing at the highest level I've ever performed and feel as good as I've ever felt, so it's about taking in the moment.

“I don't like to look too far ahead and in my career, I never have. The World Cup is going to be exciting. In America it will be an incredible occasion and ultimately it's about trying to win that, looking at where you are, where to improve and it will be no different in a couple of years,” Harry Kane said while speaking to PA.

Harry Kane’s performance this season

Harry Kane has been in decent form this season playing for Bayern Munich. He has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 10 matches so far in the Bundesliga. The 31-year-old has also struck five times for his club in four UEFA Champions League matches this season apart from scoring a goal in DFB Pokal.
