Inigo Martinez confident of good show against Real Madrid in Spanish Super Cup Final

Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to lock horns against each other in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. The two teams will feature in the final on January 13 at 12:30 AM IST. Ahead of the clash, the war of words has begun and Barcelona’s Inigo Martinez has stated that the team is aware of Madrid’s vulnerabilities and is ready to exploit them.

Notably, this is the third consecutive time the two teams are facing off in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. Also, the El Clasico is happening for the second time this season, with Barcelona comfortably winning the earlier clash 4-0. 

Meanwhile, Martinez is only in his second season with the club and is set to play his first final for Barcelona. He also hopes to lift the trophy for the Catalan side by beating Madrid in the summit clash of the Spanish Super Cup by exploiting the opposition's weakness.

“We know what we have to do, where to attack Real Madrid, and where they can be got at. We are going to go at them, full of confidence and with a more than capable squad. We are very motivated and excited. It's the first trophy of the year and we want to win it, it can push us on in the other competitions,” Martinez said in an interview with Barca One.

For the unversed, the Spanish Super Cup is one of the oldest tournaments in history. Barcelona is the most successful team in history having won a staggering 14 titles while Real Madrid is the defending champions, having won the competition 13 times.

This time around, Madrid will be looking to come to level terms with Barcelona by winning their 14th Spanish Super Cup title. While Madrid are in great form this season and are on top of the table in La Liga too, Barcelona are in third place after 19 matches with 12 wins, two draws and five losses so far.
