Is Andy Robertson's time up in the Liverpool squad? Here is Andy's answer
It has been a difficult week for Liverpool fans and their players as the club was knocked out of two competitions. The Merseyside outfit, which won a treble just a few weeks ago, is now in dire need of protecting its lead in the Premier League. Amidst the challenges and the lack of contract extension news for the likes of Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool fans are faced with yet another rumor about Andy Robertson’s departure from Anfield. Andy Robertson has been one of the cornerstones of Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool’s renaissance in the English Premier League.
Following the defeat to Newcastle United, the players have left the club to join their national teams for international duties. Rumors are circulating that Andy Robertson might leave at the end of the season in search of greener pastures. However, the Scottish full-back has denied the rumors and also mentioned that these are part and parcel of playing for a big club. Andy has been a mainstay for eight years, which he takes pride in. He also mentioned that he is not done yet at Liverpool, and even if the club brings in another player for the left-back role, he would back himself to be the best. He said:
That comes with playing with one of the greatest clubs in the world. I look back on these eight years I've had as the starting left-back at that club and I feel a lot of pride.
Your time comes and I don't think it's my time yet but even if we do bring someone in, then so be it. I'll always back myself
What did Andy Robertson say about the defeat against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup finals?
After the defeat, Andy Robertson reacted positively. He admitted that it has not been the best week for the club but they are fortunate to have many other good weeks. He added that spending time with Scotland's side has made his mood lighter and better following the defeat.
It's part and parcel of football. It probably wasn't one of our best weeks in football, though thankfully we've had plenty of good weeks this season. For many reasons, last week wasn't meant to be. But it's always great to meet up with the Scotland lads, always an honour, always good to see fresh faces and take a break from a really intense time at Liverpool.
