Kobbie Mainoor all set to reject Manchester United's new contract offer: Reports

According to reports, Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo is set to reject the club's new and improved contract offer. The reports suggest that the player's demands have not been fulfilled in his current contract, and he is expected to move away from Old Trafford and England in the upcoming campaign. Recent reports suggested that Kobbie Mainoo wanted a significant raise in his contract, from £20,000 per week to £180,000 per week, to recognize his status at the club and his regular inclusion in the national team. However, this left fans divided as the club continued to fight through financial turmoil. 

Reports also suggest that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are looking to secure the services of the teenager. However, the player does not want to spoil his rapport with his boyhood club and wants to move abroad. 

What does the former Manchester United player have to say about Kobbie Mainoo’s situation? 

Former Manchester United player and legend Paul Parker mentioned that he is skeptical of the news in the papers, suggesting that journalists are simply looking to make headlines. He also stated that the club should try to keep Mainoo, as he could be the future face of the club. Parker added that Kobbie Mainoo is not looking to leave the club, and the management should ensure they are on good terms with the midfielder.

I’m skeptical of anything I read and hear now because so many people make things up for headlines, which seems the way to go now. However, I’d look and say with Kobbie Mainoo, where he’s from and everything he is about, does he want to leave Manchester United? I would say no. I would look at the way he is as a person, is he going to be greedy in what he wants? I would say no. 

Parker also went on to say that the club is built on the principles of youngsters leading the line, and the club should not continue moving young players so easily, as it would cause many issues. Selling Mainoo would send the wrong message to all the youngsters at the club. He said:

So I can’t see them doing that because Manchester United has been built off players who have come through like him. If they were to do that, it would just cause too many issues. INEOS and the new kids on the block are already just hanging in there, so to do that would be a big statement to make
