Kylian Mbappe was a little jealous when Messi joined, Neymar reveals secrets from PSG days

Brazil football star Neymar Jr has spilled secrets from his PSG days in a recent podcast hosted by Romario. In the show, Neymar has revealed that Lionel Messi’s arrival at Paris Saint Germain club left Kylian Mbappe a little jealous. Neymar pointed out that Mbappe who was a star player in the team then didn’t want to share the spotlight with anyone and that led to some conflicts and change in behaviour as well.

For the unversed, Neymar and Mbappe joined PSG in 2017 in the same transfer window. Their signings were believed to have changed the landscape of football then. Messi joined the star duo in August 2021 and the trio played quite a few matches together for the club.

‘We had some good years of partnership, but after Messi came he was a little jealous. He didn’t want to split me with anyone. And then there were some fights, a change in behaviour,” Neymar said.

“I have my things with him, we had a little fight, but he was fundamental for us when he arrived. I used to call him golden boy. I always played with him, said he was going to be one of the best. I always helped, talked to him, he came to my place, we had dinner together,” the Brazilian further added.

It didn’t take much time for the trio to split though as all three players - Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar are featuring for different teams now. Mbappe moved to Real Madrid earlier this season and has played 27 matches across different competitions for them scoring 15 goals.

As for Neymar, he has been with Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League since last season but has played only seven matches so far. His stay with the club hasn’t gone according to plans due to multiple injuries. As far as Messi is concerned, he joined Inter Miami in 2023 and has turned up in 31 matches for them so far scoring 24 goals. His stay at PSG was only limited to a couple of seasons where he played 75 matches and scored 32 goals.
