Liverpool came from behind to defeat Leicester City 3-1 in the Premier League on Thursday (December 26). Cody Gakpo won the Player of the Match award for not only scoring an equalizer in the stoppage time of the first half but also displaying brilliant skills in the match. However, the fans were more impressed with midfielder Alexis Mac Allister’s performance in the clash.

He produced a masterclass performance in the encounter playing assists in the first two goals for the Reds. Moreover, he recorded a pass accuracy of 88% in the match (44/50), won eight duels, and had 70 touches on the ball, as per sofascore. Moreover, apart from assisting in a couple of goals, he also won possession of the ball five times from the opposition players ending with an overall rating of 8.1 in the match.

After the match, the fans were immensely impressed with Mac Allister as they hailed the player for his exceptional show, helping Liverpool make a stunning comeback in the match. “Mac Allister I love you mate, what a footballer,” one of the fans tweeted. A liverpool fan on X also tweeted that the 26-year-old Argentine footballer ran the show in the clash.

“Alexis Mac Allister has been running the show in midfield today,” he tweeted. “Alexis Mac Allister provided two assists when Liverpool were losing against Leicester - his first of the season. Stepping up,” another Liverpool fan stated on X.

Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton in the 2023-24 season and is finally winning over fans’ hearts with his performance. He has played 68 matches so far for the Reds, scoring nine goals and assisting in as many. The midfielder has certainly been a bargain buy for Liverpool who are on top of the points table in the Premier League.

With their win over Leicester City, Liverpool have extended their lead to seven points at the top. They have 42 points now after 17 matches with 13 wins, three draws, and a solitary loss so far this season.
