According to live reports following the fixture against Colombia, Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson has been ruled out of the remaining international fixtures until April after suffering a concussion. The Liverpool goalkeeper collided with an opponent in the second half and was substituted as a precaution. In a must-win game against Colombia, Brazil secured an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute. However, Colombia equalized before halftime through Luis Díaz.

In the 78th minute, Alisson clashed with Davinson Sánchez and suffered a concussion, prompting the team to replace him with Bento. Vinícius Jr. then scored in the dying moments of the game to help Brazil climb up the points table. Rodrigo Lasmar, the doctor for the Brazilian national team, confirmed that Alisson had suffered a head injury and was potentially concussed. To minimize further risks, the medical team decided to take him off the field.

The head doctor also mentioned that if Alisson’s test results come back normal, they will proceed with a cognitive test. On the field, Alisson did not exhibit signs of fainting or memory loss.

“Alisson suffered a head injury and was replaced due to a suspected concussion. If all the tests are normal, we will proceed with a cognitive test and then evaluate the player. He is fine, without any complaints. He did not report any fainting or memory loss.” Lasmar stated:

The doctor confirmed that Alisson will not take part in the upcoming fixture against their arch-rivals Argentina, who currently lead the points table. Argentina are seven points clear of Brazil after 13 rounds of matches.

Will Alisson play for Liverpool in the remainder of the campaign?

Despite a heroic performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League fixture, Liverpool bowed out of the competition on penalties. However, the club remains at the top of the Premier League table with a 12-point lead and only a few games left to play. Liverpool will be hoping one of their best players returns to the squad as soon as possible to help them secure the title.
