Luis Enrique rallies war cry ahead of PSG's Champions League clash against Arsenal
After their recent 1-3 defeat to Nice, Paris Saint-Germain’s manager, Luis Enrique, has issued a war cry for his side, backing them to overcome any odds they face over the two legs of the fixture. After equalizing in the 41st minute, the French league leaders fell flat and conceded two goals in the second half to succumb to the defeat. However, Luis Enrique boosted his side’s confidence, saying they are the best team out there and will get the job done in both legs.
Talking to the media, Luis Enrique mentioned that he is looking forward to the game against Arsenal on Tuesday in London. While discussing the result of the game against Nice, he noted that PSG had created plenty of chances (32 shots and 13 on target). He applauded the opposition shot-stopper, who defied all odds to help his side seal the win. Enrique said:
Based on what I saw, I’m signing up straight away for Tuesday in London and the return leg. Not for the result, obviously, but I saw a team that had 30 chances to score. I’m not worried at all. We attacked, didn’t calculate, and we came up against a goalkeeper who made some incredible saves
Paris St Germain will play Arsenal on 29th April at Emirates Stadium and on 7th May, they will host the opposition at their home.
What does the football pundit, Paul Merson, have to say about the result of PSG vs Arsenal?
Football pundit Paul Merson has predicted the Gunners to win the clash over the two fixtures. He mentioned that fans and neutrals have tilted in favor of PSG because of their game against Liverpool, but he pointed out that PSG actually lost that match by a goal margin. Merson also highlighted that the Parisians were very lucky, as they scored in the dying embers of the first leg to gain a two-goal lead, which ultimately served their purpose. He said:
I think Arsenal win over two legs. I think Arsenal win, I think we still get carried away with the PSG of the first leg against Liverpool. I thought they were outstanding, one of the best team performances we’ve seen this season from anyone. But they lost the game, they lost that game 1-0, people still forget that. They are outstanding. But they were hanging on, absolutely hanging on at Anfield. Then they go and play Villa and they absolutely dominated Villa, scored last kick of the game which worked out to be a priceless goal in the end to go 3-1 up
