Manchester City eye former Manchester United midfielder on a free transfer

According to recent reports, Manchester City are eyeing an extravagant deal to secure the signing of the former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba. The Cityzens are looking to sign Paul Pogba on a Bosman transfer in the upcoming days. Currently, Paul Pogba has no club after he was suspended due to drug use. 

What exactly did Paul Pogba use?

The Frenchman was found doping DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), a compound that promotes the production of hormones in the body to aid in improving sporting ability alongside testosterone. Following the unsuccessful drug trials, the player was suspended from football for a long period, with mutual contract termination with Juventus.

The player was subjected to being on the sidelines for a long period but the sporting body decided to reduce the same, allowing the player to feature for any side from March 2025.

Why are Manchester City interested in signing Paul Pogba? 

Manchester City are facing a crisis period for the first time in a decade, with just one win in ten games across all competitions. Their win came against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and they have failed to win in both Premier League and UEFA Champions League. In the absence of Rodri and aging Kevin de Bruyne, the blue side of Manchester are contemplating about securing the services of the 33-year-old French international. 

Even in the past, Pep Guardiola had indicated securing the services of the No 6, before he moved to Juventus for his second stint in Italy, but Pogba’s allegiance to Manchester United came in the way. The player had remarkably aided multiple victories of Manchester United in the derby fixtures. 

Should Manchester United sign Paul Pogba? Louis Saha believes so! 

Few pundits and fans believe Paul Pogba’s future lies in the Saudi Pro League whereas the player himself believes he has years left in his career to feature in the top leagues of the world. The former Manchester United player, Louis Saha has urged his club to sign Pogba on a free transfer. He said: 

“When I think about Pogba, there are more positives with signing him than there are negatives. All the top clubs in the Premier League should see signing Pogba on a free transfer as an amazing opportunity. That’s how I see it”

Both stints with the Old Trafford outfit did not end well for the Frenchman. It remains interesting to see the Red Devils sign him in the summer.
