This summer, Manchester City plans to seek £60 million for Julian Alvarez, a target for Chelsea. After becoming agitated with his lack of playing time toward the conclusion of the season, the 24-year-old is amenable to leaving Etihad Stadium. Alvarez really only played a total of 17 minutes in their past four Premier League games, without starting any of them. He nonetheless finished the season with an outstanding 19 goals and 13 assists in 54 games, and he is still an important part of the City team. Even the family members who have followed him to England agree that he would be happy to relocate to a warmer environment. However, it's believed that Alvarez may be too expensive to move overseas given that City is requesting a transfer fee of almost £60 million, which would be a huge profit in comparison to the £18 million they paid for him when they acquired him from River Plate two years ago.
The story goes on to say that Atletico Madrid, who are rumored to be the 24-year-old's main suitors, are unwilling to pay the nearly £60 million that the Premier League winners are asking for, plus an additional £17 million. There haven't been many suitors for Julian Alvarez aside from the Spanish capital club, but some sources indicate that teams like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain may be considering the midfielder. In the end, Atletico Madrid has a rather clear run at the adaptable forward throughout the remaining weeks of the transfer window because neither party has followed through on their initial appreciation and curiosity about the player's circumstances at Manchester City.
Anyhow, supporters of Manchester City will not see Julian Alvarez participate in either the team's current preseason trip or its FA Community Shield matchup against Manchester United in early August, regardless of Alvarez's future. In fact, if Alvarez wins every medal for Argentina at the Olympics in Paris, he would not be able to play for Manchester City again until mid-September because of another international break that starts in late August, which would need a minimum of three-week leave at the conclusion of his season.
