Manchester City vs Newcastle United: Preview, Predicted line-ups
Manchester City are all set to face Newcastle United in the 25th game of the Premier League 2024/25 campaign on Saturday. The Blues have found their way back into the top five but their recent defeat to Arsenal has put them back to fifth from fourth place. While their title defense looks difficult at this point in time, their Champions League hopes are truly alive. On the other hand, Newcastle United are also chasing the Champions League and European spots in the ongoing campaign. They are two points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea and leveled with Manchester City.
In the previous game, Newcastle United defeated Birmingham City in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 win at St Andrew’s and before that, they had registered a 2-0 thumping win over Arsenal to advance to the second finals of Carabao Cup in three years. On the other hand, Manchester City failed to register a win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout playoffs. Real Madrid and Manchester City squared up at the Etihad Stadium and as expected, City dominated the early proceedings.
However, Real Madrid staged a great comeback in the last ten minutes of the game to win the fixture 3-2. In the FA Cup, Manchester City had to overturn the game to win it 2-1 against struggling Leyton Orient.
