Mohamed Salah goes past David Beckham in all-time Premier League record

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has surpassed Manchester United legend David Beckham in an all-time Premier League list for the highest number of assists in history. Salah’s moment of glory came during Liverpool’s stunning 5-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday (December 29). Salah scored a goal and assisted in a couple in the clash as he jumped to 10th place in the overall list in Premier League history. The official X handle of the Premier League also confirmed the record stating that Salah has now 81 assists in the history of the competition, thereby going past the legendary Beckham.

For the unversed, David Beckham finished his illustrious career with a total of 80 assists in the Premier League. Coming back to Salah, he has been in terrific form in the ongoing season for the Reds scoring 20 goals and assisting in 17 in 26 matches across competitions. In the Premier League, the Egyptian international has found the net 17 times this season and is the highest goalscorer so far.

Overall, Salah is the eighth-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League having scored a staggering 174 goals so far. By the end of the ongoing season, the superstar player is certain to get closer to the 200-goal mark as well.

Such has been his performance this season that Salah is already being asked about winning the Ballon d’Or award in 2025. However, the veteran is not thinking of it at all and is currently concentrating on helping Liverpool lift the Premier League title.

“Only thing in my mind is for Liverpool to win the Premier League,” he said (according to journalist Fabrizio Romano)

Meanwhile, Liverpool have continued to strengthen their place at the top in the ongoing Premier League season. With their 5-0 win over West Ham United, they are eight points ahead of second-placed Nottingham Forest. Forest have been the biggest surprise of the season with 11 wins, four draws, and four losses in 19 matches so far. They will have to keep their form going to have any chance of winning the Premier League.
