Barcelona stunned Bayern Munich 4-1 in the clash of giants last night in the ongoing UEFA Champions League. Raphinha was the star for Barcelona with three brilliant goals against the German outfit continuing his terrific form this season. Raphinha also won the Player of the Match award for a sensational outing and reacted to the team’s victory while speaking to the media.

Interestingly, there were rumours of his exit from the club, earlier, in the summer and since then, the winger from Barcelona has been in excellent form. He has so far scored nine goals this season for the team, five in La Liga and four in the Champions League, to go with five and one assist in two tournaments respectively.

Reacting to the win, Raphinha expressed his delight at beating Bayern Munich and was happy the team gave a reason for the fans to celebrate.

“We played a very good game. We achieved our second victory in the Champions League. It could have been a Champions League final. Winning like this, in front of our fans, is the best. I have no words to describe how we are, I think what we do on the pitch says it all,” he said according to Barca Universal.

Raphinha led from the front in key clash

As far as the match is concerned, Barcelona kept the pressure on Bayern Munich right through the 90 minutes with the latter side looking vulnerable in their defence. Barcelona opened their account in the opening minute itself with Raphinha finding the nets for the first time in the night. The German side leveled things in the 18th minute with Harry Kane coming up with a special volley.

However, since then, it was all Barcelona with Raphinha striking in the 45th and 56th minute and before that, Robert Lewandoski had put them ahead in the 36th minute. Raphinha, the former Leeds United winger had the captain’s armband with him and led from the front at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc.

This win is special for many reasons as Barcelona ended their losing streak of six matches against Bayern Munich since 2015. This is their second win of the Champions League season in three games and they are at 10th place in the points table with six points to their name.
