According to recent reports across media outlets, Real Madrid have abstained from participating in the press conference and training, as the Spanish outfit believes that the selection of referees is not impartial and can have a direct impact on the game. Alongside this, the club is also set to boycott any official activities and dinners after hearing the comments made by the designated referee of the Copa del Rey final, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea. This step comes after the RFEF decided not to heed Los Blancos' request to change the referee due to his previous remarks.

He said that when a child goes through this at school, where his father is called a thief, it is really tough. Ricardo added that he wants his son to feel proud on the day his father retires. He said:
