Real Madrid suffers double injury blow ahead of the Copa del Rey finals
According to the recent reports released by the Real Madrid Football Club, they are set to lose two key players to injury ahead of the finals against Barcelona. Real Madrid would be without Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba for the key game, which is potentially touted as the last game of Carlo Ancelotti as the Real Madrid gaffer.
Posting about Camavinga’s injury, Real Madrid highlighted that the player had ruptured the left adductor tendon. The club is yet to assess the impact of the injury and the tenure of the absence. However, the fans believe that the Frenchman's season has already come to an end and is preparing for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. The recovery would take anywhere between four to 16 weeks according to the reports. Los Blancos’ report read:
After the tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the left adductor tendon. Awaiting evolution.
After the midweek win over Getafe, Real Madrid’s gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti mentioned that both Alaba and Camavinga have muscle issues and it will be difficult for them to stage a comeback for the Saturday fixture. He had said:
We'll have to assess them tomorrow but both Camavinga and Alaba have muscle issues in their leg, so it's hard to see them making it back for Saturday
How has Real Madrid fared in the ongoing campaign against Barcelona?
Against Barcelona, Real Madrid has struggled to get one up against the opposition. In the league fixture earlier in the season, Barcelona registered a 4-0 dominant victory at Santiago Bernabeu and in the domestic finals of the Spanish Super Cup, the Catalans again won 5-2 despite playing with ten men. Real Madrid will look to register a win against their arch-rivals despite not starting as favorites considering the recent form.
While both are in the title race, Real Madrid have a chance to dent Barcelona’s hopes on 11th May when they meet again in the Spanish top-flight competition. Both teams are four points apart and by the time the game comes around, it could prove to be a potential six-pointer.
