Rio Ferdinand has predicted the winner of the massive clash between Arsenal and Liverpool in the ongoing Premier League season on Sunday (October 27). Both teams have started well this season with Liverpool on top of the table with seven wins and a loss in eight outings. On the other hand, Arsenal are in third place with five wins, two draws, and a loss.
On the basis of their current form, Ferdinand has backed Liverpool to secure three points in the encounter against Arsenal. To win seven out of the first eight matches is a terrific start according to him and reckons that the Reds will build on the winning momentum at the Emirates this weekend.
On the other hand, the Gunners have missed a few of their key players to injuries. Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber and Martin Odegaard have been part of the long injury list for Arsenal this season so far.
“I think on form, momentum, I would say 100% Liverpool. I think they're the team that you look at and go, 'they're in a better position. With injuries, Arsenal seem decimated in that sense, and they haven't got the momentum at the moment. They're not firing on all cylinders. They're not the Arsenal of last season at the moment,” Ferdinand said while speaking to TNT Sports.
Moreover, the Manchester United legend also pointed out that Liverpool have turned the tide this season by playing some excellent football. “Liverpool, the tide has turned a bit right now. Brilliant few games into the season, but right now, I would say that Liverpool are probably the favorites,” Ferdinand added.
William Saliba to miss Liverpool clash
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also set to miss their key defender William Saliba for the clash against Liverpool. He has been suspended for one game after picking up a red card against Bournemouth on October 19. This is a big blow for the Gunners as Saliba is one of their most experienced players having featured in 73 Premier League matches for the club so far.
As for the head-to-head record between the two teams, Liverpool have won 26 matches, Arsenal have emerged victorious 20 times while 25 games ended in a draw.
