Manchester United are struggling to find its best form in the ongoing Premier League season. They are languishing at the 14th spot on the table, managing only two wins in seven games. United’s manager, Erik ten Hag looks to find it hard to sort out his best XI. Meanwhile, Manchester United's legendary defender, Rio Ferdinand has picked his preferred XI if everyone stays fit. Fernando mentioned that he would start with the likes of 36-year-old Jonny Evans and Casemiro. He also expressed his desire to pick Lenny Yoro in his starting XI.
“Right-back Dalot. Leny Yoro. Leny Yoro and you could pick any of the others, but I am going to go Jonny [Evans] because of his experience, and next to young Leny Yoro to pull him through and to communicate and to help him through at times and understand the task ahead with a bit more clarity," said Manchester United legendary footballer on his Youtube channel (via United in focus).
While mentioning the inclusion of Jonny Evans, he stated that he would put him because of the sheer experience that the player brings to the table, which would allow Yoro to pick up the trade.
Ferdinand hailed Manchester United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana for his performance this season. Luke Shaw will take the left-back position if he is fit, while Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro will be the two in midfield.
"Onana goalkeeper. He has been brilliant, by the way. He has kept us in loads of games. Left-back Shaw if he’s fit. And then the two in midfield, I would go Kobbie Mainoo, and I would go Casemiro," Ferdinand added.
"I would go for Rashford on the left, Garnacho on the right"- Rio Ferdinand
One of the most criticized Manchester United players, Marcus Rashford also makes it into the XI as a left winger. Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho will partner him at the top.
"I would go Casemiro, and Bruno in the 10. And I would go Rashford on the left, Garnacho on the right, Hojlund up top.” Ferdinand concluded.
Manchester United have struggled to hit the straps this season. Their form is equal to the relegation-battling sides with just eight points from seven games. The team has struggled to find the net consistently.
In the game against Aston Villa, Manchester United’s manager made changes at the back as well as in the attack, drawing various reactions from the fans. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, which piled further misery on the Dutchman. Manchester are slated to play next against Brentford after the international break on 19th October.
