Ronaldinho names the Greatest Football Player of all-time

The debate on 'who is the best player in football history' continues. Some say it is Diego Maradona, while few reckon it is Johan Cruyff. And the current generation is torn between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. One of the best players to ever grace the field, Ronaldinho, recently, gave his take on the same.  

The former Barcelona and Paris St Germain attacker, Ronaldinho, mentioned that Pele is undoubtedly the best player of all time in football. Ronaldinho, in a YouTube video with Rk Reddy, spoke when Pele’s name came up. Ronaldinho was with the FC 25 Youtuber RK Reddy where the host asked to speak up when the best player’s name came up.

Ronaldinho remained silent when the names of Neymar, Ronaldo Nazario, Zinedine Zidane, Fraz Beckenbauer, and Johan Cruyff came up. He also stayed silent when the names of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were called upon. However, when Pele’s name was taken, Ronaldinho broke his silence. 

Why is Pele hailed as the best player in football history?

Pele, the native of Santos, featured for Brazil and his club Santos during his career and was one of the most agile and brilliant operators on the field. As the records were not kept as accurately as they are kept, his club records might be contradictory. Despite that, it is said that the player had over 700 goals during his club football career. 

For his country, Pele has been the best player in terms of records for Brazil. He has won three World Cups with Brazil and had 77 goals and 39 assists in 92 games.

What did Pele say on the debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi? 

The world football legend, Pele, shared his views about Ronaldo and Messi before he passed away in 2022. When asked about the best player amongst the two, he stated that Messi is a complete footballer compared to Ronaldo, who is a great goal scorer. He said: 

I would still stay with Messi. Scoring is important, no doubt, but if you do not have anyone to prepare, then the ball is not enough. For my team, I prefer Messi. As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he's a great goalscorer. Ronaldo's been able to score goals, while you see Messi creating goals and directing the play, as well as scoring. Ronaldo's a great goalscorer, but in terms of the complete player, there's no doubt that Messi is the best
