The problems for Manchester United don't seem to end at this point. While it was goalkeeping horrors that cost them the game in France, which ended 2-2, a horror show in the defense cost them the game against the Magpies. Amidst these issues, they have now lost Zirkzee ahead of the most crucial game of the campaign against Lyon on Thursday. The player is struck with a hamstring injury, and Ruben Amorim gave an update about the length of the injury.

Talking to the media after the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James' Park, Ruben Amorim mentioned “it’s over” when speaking about the Dutch international. Joshua Zirkzee was finding his feet at the club, growing in leaps and bounds and contributing to attacks. He had scored the second goal against Lyon, which had put Manchester United a goal up in the first leg of the quarterfinals, until seven minutes later Cherki found the equalizer for the French outfit. Ruben Amorim said:

Zirkzee vs. Lyon? I think it’s over

We had to make rotation because we are trying to recover in two days from each game,""But trying to win this game also

Josh, I think he will be out for some games. So, let’s focus on the next one [against Lyon

How long is Joshua Zirkzee out?

While Ruben Amorim mentioned that the player might be out for some games, it remains to be seen how severe the injury is. According to the NHS website, a grade one mild muscle strain can be recovered in a few days, but it may take up to two weeks for a sports professional. On the other hand, it is observed that the player suffered a grade two injury, which could rule him out for at least a month. The club can be hopeful of having him back by the end of the campaign, possibly even before the Europa League final, if the team advances to the next rounds.

What did Ruben Amorim think about the game?

While speaking about the game against Newcastle United, Ruben Amorim mentioned that his side committed multiple mistakes. He pointed out that the Toons were winning the second balls, which made them the better team. He also mentioned that the Red Devils committed multiple mistakes on the pitch, making it harder to win the game. He said:

Many mistakes. They were stronger to the second balls. They were a better team but we made a lot of mistakes that make it harder to win a game.
