Ruben Amorim addressed speculation surrounding his future on Tuesday, stating that "nothing is decided yet" as Manchester United reportedly eyes him as their top candidate to replace the recently sacked Erik ten Hag. United made the decision to part ways with Ten Hag following a disappointing 2-1 defeat against West Ham, which left the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League. This result marked a low point in Ten Hag's two-year tenure, prompting United to search for a new direction. Amorim has quickly emerged as a frontrunner for the managerial position at Old Trafford. A statement released by Sporting Lisbon to the stock exchange confirmed that United is willing to activate Amorim's release clause, set at €10 million (approximately £8.3 million or $10.8 million). This news adds further intrigue to the situation, as the 39-year-old coach has garnered attention for his impressive management skills.

Following Sporting's League Cup victory over Nacional, Amorim was cautious when asked if it was his last match with the Portuguese club, emphasizing that decisions regarding his future are still pending. His guarded response reflects the uncertainty surrounding his potential move to Manchester United, where fans and analysts alike are eager to see how the situation unfolds in the coming days.

"Nobody knows whether this was my farewell match. Nothing is decided yet," said Ruben Amorim during a recent conversation.

Despite significant investment in the summer transfer market, Manchester United has struggled, winning only one of their last eight matches across all competitions. In light of these disappointing results, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as interim manager. However, the club appears to be focusing on Ruben Amorim, who is regarded as one of Europe's top young coaches. Since taking over at Sporting Lisbon in March 2020, Amorim has made a remarkable impact, leading the team to two Portuguese league titles. His success has drawn attention from top clubs, including Manchester United, which is eager to rejuvenate its fortunes.

Ahead of Sporting's League Cup match, Amorim was questioned about the ongoing speculation regarding his potential move to Old Trafford. He remained dismissive of the rumors, indicating that his focus is on his current role. As United navigates a tumultuous period, the club's management will have to decide whether to pursue Amorim aggressively or to consider other options as they seek to restore their status as a dominant force in English football.

"I'm not going to talk about my future. I'm very proud to be the coach of Sporting Lisbon," Amorim added.
