One of the most prominent figures in both the Premier League and Liverpool’s recent history, Mohamed Salah, was widely expected to leave England this summer. Rumors linked him not only with a move to Spain but also to the Saudi Pro League, where he was reportedly close to joining a club.

However, those speculations remained unfounded as Salah continues to wear the red jersey at Anfield. Speaking on the potential transfer, Saudi Pro League chief Michael Emenalo addressed the media, fueling speculation that the Egyptian star could make the switch at the start of the next season.

Speaking to the media, Michael Emenalo revealed that Liverpool were unwilling to part with their star player at the start of the season, while Saudi clubs were hesitant to pay an astronomical sum for the 32-year-old. Emenalo also mentioned that Salah himself was not ready to leave England, feeling he had unfinished business at Liverpool.

Fundamentally, Liverpool didn’t want to sell and what price were we willing to buy at? We don’t want to buy at a ridiculous amount. The most important part is if the player is ready to come. I didn’t feel the player was ready to come because he felt like he had unfinished business.

"You have to leave the club in the right way"- Saudi Pro League chief Michael Emenalo

The SPL chief emphasized the importance of leaving a club and country the right way, particularly for players at the top level of the game. He stressed that the timing and manner of departure should be respectful and well-considered. Emenalo said:

Very few players do it, but you have to leave the club in the right way. When you are at that level and you have done things, it’s important to leave the club in the right way

Mohamed Salah continues to excel in Liverpool's ongoing campaign, contributing 11 goals and assists across all competitions and topping multiple charts for the Merseyside outfit. During his time at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has helped the club end its trophy drought by winning both a Premier League title and a Champions League trophy, cementing his legacy as a key figure in the club’s recent success. Liverpool are set to resume their Premier League journey on Saturday in a highly anticipated showdown against Chelsea, as both teams battle for early supremacy in the title race.
