Since I arrived that is the worst performance: Chelsea's boss fumes after 3-0 loss over Brighton

After being part of the ongoing title race in the Premier League season 2024/25, Chelsea continue to lose steam in the English top flight. Brighton and Hove Albion thrashed them in the 25th gameweek of the league on Friday. Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion were at loggerheads at Amex Stadium and the Seagulls left no crumbs on the pitch. 

Starting the game on a positive note with waves of attack, Chelsea were determined to increase their lead in the fourth position from two to five with a win but Brighton had different plans. Karou Mitoma and Yakub Minteh were key architects of the win. 

Following the defeat, Enzo Marseca, the Chelsea gaffer had a go at his team. He termed the defeat as the worst performance of the side ever since his arrival. He also apologized to the fans who had to endure this result.

We are fourth in the league and by winning tonight you can go one point from third and make the gap to the rest bigger and the performance is not one you want to offer, so we are very upset and sorry for the fans that were here.

Marseca highlights lack of availability due to injuries 

He mentioned that conceding the first goal was detrimental in a game where they controlled the first half an hour of the game. Maresca was also unhappy about the team conceding chances rather than creating. 

For half an hour I think we were in control but after that moment [Kaoru Mitoma's goal] we looked like we could concede chances easily, and we struggled to create chances.

During the game, there were many chances created by the wingers and attacking midfielders which the Chelsea stars failed to score. Marseca rued about the injuries but was also upbeat about finding the solution. He said: 

The reason why is because of the injuries in this moment, especially with the strikers...important players are out, but we need to find a solution.

It is difficult when you don't have a proper number nine. So you always have to find a different solution. In the last third, we struggled doing things, until a week or two ago we were doing well.
