Chris Sutton, former English professional football player and manager, has come up with an interesting prediction for the Manchester United vs West Ham United clash in the Premier League. The two teams are scheduled to lock horns against each other on Sunday (October 27). They are coming into this game with contrasting results as West Ham United lost to Tottenham 4-1, while the Red Devils defeated Brentford 2-1 at the Old Trafford stadium last weekend on Saturday (October 19).
While the recent form is with United, Sutton is unable to decide whether they will be able to churn out three points from this match. However, he feels that the Hammers need a huge improvement in their game, especially, after a 1-4 hammering in their previous outing. At the same time, he reckons that this clash is all about Manchester United and their intent.
“Things did not get any better for Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui with their defeat against Tottenham, and it seems he still doesn’t know what the 'West Ham way' is. The Hammers need a big improvement, but this game is more about what Manchester United do and whether they turn up,” he wrote in his column for BBC Sport.
Sutton lets his daughter make the prediction
Chris Sutton has stopped backing Manchester United from defeating anyone in the Premier League. He remarked that the Red Devils were switched on only in the second half against Brentford and that was the reason they were able to win the match. The 51-year-old also went on to state that the 13-time Premier League winners are inconsistent nowadays which makes it tough for anyone to predict their performance before the match.
For the unversed, United played in the Europa League on Thursday (October 24) night. They drew the match 1-1 against the Fenerbahçe. But Sutton feels that the players will feel tired in the West Ham clash with only two days of gap between the matches.
Interestingly and hilariously enough, Sutton asked his daughter to predict the result of the match. She has predicted Erik Ten Hag’s team to win the fixture 2-1 and it remains to be seen if the United step up to earn three points. They are at the 12th place in the points table currently while West Ham United are languishing at 15th.
