Pep Guardiola has pointed out what makes Manchester City's side different from Liverpool and Arsenal and what his players need to do to compete with the other two clubs. Manchester City won their Premier League encounter against Luton on Saturday and grabbed three points. As for Liverpool and Arsenal, both teams lost their encounters over the weekend. Arsenal lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at home, that too in the last few minutes of the match. As for Liverpool, they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace last night. The Premier League title race is getting more interesting with every passing weekend. Manchester City climbed to the top of the points table with 73 points, while Liverpool fell to 3rd position with 71 points, and Arsenal are in the 2nd position with 71 points.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola understands the dire need for his side to compete with Liverpool and Arsenal for the Premier League title with less than 2 months left for the seaso to conclude. Here's what Guardiola had to say about the title race and Man City's situation:
"The contenders we have with Arsenal and Liverpool, we cannot draw many games. That is why we are still there."
"The only biggest difference between Arsenal, Liverpool against us is that they won a lot of points in stoppage-time. A lot. That helped them be in the position they are."
"Of course, all three teams have had incredible seasons, all three. But they won a lot of points for the talent they have because of late goals. It happened for Liverpool many times in the last eight years and for Arsenal many times because of their talent."
"It is a credit to them, not the opposite. In those departments, they are much better than us, but still we are there."
Manchester City are the Premier League and Champions League defending champions, and this time around too, they seem to be the favourites to win both the titles. In the Champions League, City drew against Real Madrid in the 1st leg of their quarter-final at the Santiago Bernabeu last week. They are up against Los Blancos once again this week at home, i.e. at the Etihad Stadium.
