Manchester United continue to struggle in the English Premier League as they have now lost their 8th game in the last 12 Premier League outings. In the 25th gameweek, they locked horns with Tottenham Hotspur and returned empty-handed despite having a go in the second half. Meanwhile, former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen expressed his disappointment as he thrashed the players during his post-match thoughts.

He called the side’s performance “terrible”. He even had a go at newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim and called him out saying he has done nothing honestly. He said:

Where do we start? Wow. What an awful team! They’re terrible. They don’t look like a team at all. Manager has come in and done nothing honestly

Michael Owen was visibly distraught even at the half time while discussing the goal that the club conceded. He blamed the defense for not tracking the run of Maddison into the box.

What happened in the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United?

With both teams needing a win to improve their chances of survival in the ongoing league, Tottenham Hotspur went on a rampage in the early minutes of the game. Despite this, Manchester United tried to make a chance for themselves which Vicario denied them.

On the other hand, James Maddison scored off a rebound in the 12th minute which proved to be the difference between the two sides. Though Manchester United grew into the game in the second half with attackers creating chances. But, with no senior players available on the bench, Ruben Amorim’s hands were tied in making changes.

What's next for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur?

Following the defeat to Spurs, Manchester United will face an upbeat Everton in the next Premier League fixture. As there is no midweek fixture, Amorim will hope to get a major injury boost ahead of the game against the Merseysiders.

On the other hand, the North London outfit will face relegation battling Ipswich Town on Saturday in a bid to mobilize their position on the points table.
