With Liverpool winning the high-stakes game in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, debates have arisen over the decisions made in the crucial match. One of the decisions that did not go in PSG's favor was when Konaté was not sent off just before the hour mark after denying a clear scoring opportunity for Bracola.

Against the French side in the French capital, Liverpool registered a smash-and-grab victory with a goal in the 87th minute. Liverpool struggled to break down the opposition, while Paris Saint-Germain had a field day in terms of the number of chances created and shots on target. In the 26th minute, Brady Bracola was on goal until Ibrahima Konaté stopped the player from scoring. Luis Campos, the sporting director of PSG, felt they were hard done by and vented his anger at halftime. He mentioned that it should have been a red card for Liverpool in every part of football. He said:

It's a red card or a penalty, in every part of the world. Red card or penalty, in every part of football

On the other hand, Liverpool skipper, Virgil van Dijk did not hold back. He came into his compatriots defending and mentioned that it was the correct decision. He called out and said:

Come on, this is not Ligue 1 brother

What did Arne Slot have to say about their opponent’s performance in the first leg?

Talking to the media, Arne Slot remained humble about the win against Paris Saint-Germain. While the Dutchman supported his side and mentioned that they were not under par, he acknowledged that it was PSG’s quality that made them the best. Slot also mentioned that the league table might show different things, but they had faced a difficult set of opponents, including Arsenal, Bayern, and Atletico Madrid. He said:

No, no – we were not under par. It’s purely the quality of Paris Saint-Germain and the way they’ve played this whole season. I can say it one more time, all of the underlying stats show you that they were the best team in Europe until now – except for the league table, but they’ve had Arsenal, they’ve played Bayern Munich, they’ve played Atletico Madrid and they’ve played Manchester City and they still have the best underlying stats.

Liverpool will now resume their league duties against Southampton on Saturday at Anfield before hosting Paris St Germain in the second leg.
