Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine a few years ago, Chelsea have faced huge ups and downs. On one hand, they have signed a significant number of young talents with great potential, while on the other hand, they have failed consistently to make it to the Champions League. They have continued to hire and fire managers and are yet to figure out the right one. Amidst these, Todd Boehly has dropped a bombshell about an impending challenge the club is facing with the other parts of the ownership structure.

When the Todd Boehly-led consortium secured the keys to the London outfit, Boehly had done so with the private equity firm, Clearlake Capital. As of today, Todd Boehly holds only 38.5 % of the club. Because of this structure, there is reported power struggle between the two parties. Clearlake Capital wants the club to move away from Stamford Bridge to Earl’s Court as the complications in developing the existing site have emerged.

While the club owners have tried to douse the fire, it has not worked out. In a recent interview, Todd Boehly mentioned that they want to look at the long-term objectives. Todd Boehly also mentioned building the big stadium development. However, if there is lack of alignment they will part ways. He said:

We have to think long-term about what we're trying to accomplish,

We have a big stadium development opportunity that we have to flesh out.

I think that's going to be where we're either aligned or we ultimately decide to go different ways. But what's been written and talked about is much more 'drama' than what is actually happening.

What did Boehly speak about the partnership with Clearlake Capital?

Talking about the partnership, Boehly mentioned that they both have learned from each other and are looking to evolve like how their team has evolved while maintaining the perfect status quo. He said:

We've learned from each other and we're going to be able to work it out any which way. If you look at the evolution of the team, we've been aligned on what we’re trying to do and what we're trying to build
