Bayer Leverkusen manager and Spanish legend Xabi Alonso is on top of the world after guiding the German club to the first-ever Bundesliga title in the history of the club. Alonso made it clear to the fans and the footballing world that his side was "not done yet", instilling hopes of possibly winning the treble within the hearts of Leverkusen fans. Alonso's Leverkusen remained unbeaten in 43 games this season and are yet to lose a game. Leverkusen won their Bundesliga encounter against Werder Bremen 5-0 on Sunday which ensured them of the title for the first time in their 120-year history. Florian Wirtz's second-half hat-trick was the icing on the cake for Leverkusen, with celebrations taking over the stands, the stadium, and the dressing room.

Drenched with beer all over him by Leverkusen's players, Xabi Alonso celebrated with his men in the post-match press conference where he talked about how the sky was the limit for his side. Here's what he had to say about Leverkusen possibly winning the treble this season as well:

"It's not over yet. We'll see how far we can go. I have a good feeling about it. It's not over yet and we've got great goals we still want to achieve. But we can think about that on Tuesday. Today and tomorrow, we need to celebrate."

Alonso also cleared the rumors surrounding his exit from Bayer Leverkusen after the season ends. He clarified that he desired to stay at Leverkusen and guide them to glory even further. Here's what he had to say: "I want to be near the players, talk to them, and as someone who played I know what they're feeling."

"I have empathy and connection with the players, which is important in the dressing room. I try and keep this connection to the team."

With the league win, Leverkusen broke Bayern Munich's long dominance of 11 years. Leverkusen have finished second five times but had never managed to win the title.

"This trophy belongs to a lot of people and we have to enjoy it. It's perhaps healthy for the Bundesliga and German football that other teams win -- and it's a great pleasure that it's us."

Leverkusen are 16 points clear of Bayern Munich with 5 games to still be played. Xabi Alonso's side have also reached the German Cup final, and have a 2-0 lead in the Europa League quarter-final against West Ham.
