"We don't have to look at standings" - Hansi Flick remains unmoved about the title race
The La Liga title race continues to remain one of the most entertaining ones in Europe with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid being involved. While Barcelona led the race for the first 14 games, poor performances let them down in between. However, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid capitulating in the last few games, it has opened the doors again for the Catalonian outfit. With a win on Monday against Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona can move to the top of the table in the Spanish top flight.
Talking about the title chase and the possibility to reach the summit in the 24th gameweek, Hansi Flick mentioned that there is a long way to go and the team is focused on putting on a great performance. He said:
We don't have to look at the standings. There is still a long way to go and what we want to show is a good performance
Hansi Flick emphasized on the mentality and resilience of the players during the games that could put them on top of the table. He mentioned that the games like these are the occasions for players to display their mental fortitude.
The Catalonian players have been clinical and decisive on the field. The former German coach mentioned that their attitude and will to continue to improve is a great subject of interest for the coach. Flick told:
I have the feeling that the players want to show what kind of team they are and what mentality they have. And that's great for the coaches... Our will is to keep improving, and I think that's actually what we are doing
